Health,
hustle,
& heart.
Hi, I'm Agnes - a Health Sciences student at McMaster University with a soft spot for community, cooking, and getting kids excited about food.
Health Sci Year 3 · 2027
Science student.
Camp counsellor.
Part-time chef.
I'm drawn to the intersections — between food and health, between working with kids and teaching life skills, between the lab and the real world. McMaster's Health Sci program gives me the analytical rigour; summers at culinary day camps give me the humanity.
When I'm not in class or the kitchen, you'll find me volunteering at community health fairs, experimenting with plant-based recipes, or deep in a podcast about the gut microbiome.
Experience
Led hands-on cooking sessions for children ages 7–14 at week-long day camps. Designed age-appropriate recipes focused on nutrition, kitchen safety, and food culture. Managed groups of up to 18 kids, coordinated with camp directors, and adapted curriculum for dietary restrictions and different skill levels.
Mentored junior staff members while maintaining a safe, inclusive camp environment. Facilitated team-building activities and resolved conflicts among campers with empathy and clear communication. Recognized for excellence in camper engagement.
Assisting a faculty lab exploring dietary patterns and chronic disease risk in young adults. Responsibilities include participant recruitment, survey administration, and literature reviews on nutritional epidemiology.
Staffed information booths on preventive health topics at community events across Hamilton. Developed plain-language health communication skills and built connections with local public health professionals.
